In the near future, cities in the Philippines are poised to become more livable through the establishment of additional third spaces, such as parks, libraries, and community centers.
Local government units will prioritize investments in the creation of new third spaces or the enhancement of existing ones. These initiatives aim to foster socialization and community engagement among Filipinos, providing accessible venues for recreation, learning, and cultural exchange.
With an increased emphasis on third spaces, urban environments will offer residents more opportunities for leisure, education, and community interaction, ultimately contributing to a higher quality of life for city dwellers.
...[H]onestly, I'm not really sure what [socialization] would look like in 20 years time, because I feel like there have been local governments who really want to promote parks and third spaces, right? I forgot what city that was, but this is one city I saw had really nice public parks and their local government is really promoting that. We see attempts from Quezon city, for example, yung Q cinema, right? Or like when they host events that kind of want to address that lack of community in cities and things like that. Like Sunday markets in more rich places. It's still something like utilizing public spaces for socialization, I think. It's definitely something that I see happening in the future.
