Improved public transportation

In the foreseeable future, cities in the Philippines are poised to become more livable with significant improvements in public transportation.

Firstly, the expansion of transportation networks holds promise for greater accessibility. Initiatives such as the construction of additional MRT lines and the extension of bus systems like the carousel bus system beyond Metro Manila are expected. Ambitious projects to interconnect transport between major Philippine islands are also on the horizon, despite potential financial challenges.

Moreover, diversification of public transportation options will enhance accessibility. Urban areas will witness the availability of bikes and e-scooters for rent, alongside improvements in infrastructure such as wider lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as increased accessibility features like ramps and elevators for disabled individuals.

Lastly, technology will play a pivotal role in streamlining the commuting experience. Real-time tracking of public vehicles through dedicated apps and the adoption of cashless payment systems like the Beep card will make commuting more efficient and convenient for Filipinos.

In conclusion, the future of public transportation in the Philippines looks promising, with advancements set to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and overall quality of life for urban residents.

So I mean, at the very least, urban centers would then have rental bikes and rental e-scooters, like Moovr PH, because those vehicles are popular now in the Southeast Asian region. So I think that's something that eventually will be introduced to us...because of the ongoing talks with bike lanes and also safer infrastructure, I believe that is a possibility in 2040 ...if that still isn't acheived by then...there is really no hope [for] the Philippines. That is one piece of technology at least that has a possibility [to be real] I think in the future.

My only hope for transportation is that hopefully, it'll become organized. But that's all. Other than for rental mobility devices, I guess in terms of transportation, our urban stations will become much more accessible, [for instance,] there'll be elevators, or if there won't be elevators at this very station, [at least it would be] connected to a mall, and then that mall will obviously have an elevator.

In terms of...transportation...there will still be more ambitious projects for trains or connecting the Philippines from Luzon to Mindanao...but cash...will still be involved.

I'm positive [about the future of public transportation]. I can imagine a Beep card would be integrated into public vehicles.

And I feel like that there'll be better infrastructure, with hopefully some tracking...[M]ost of the possibilities [for improvement] will be on the trains, buses, and PUVs, being able to track [all of] those, and ease of navigation.

Honestly, I'm hoping that in the next 20 years there will be something done about transportation [in the Philippines]. Not necessarily anything drastic naman, but when it comes to public transportation, I'm hoping that we at least improve that, since there are more MRT lines being built right now. I'm hoping that in 20 years time, we'll kind of be jumping off of that idea of increasing train lines and buses. I live in QC. Mayor Joy's carousel bus initiative was really helpful during the pandemic. And I hope that in the next few years, there'll be more of that, not just in Manila but incorporating buses in other areas as well.
