Impulsive buying

Looking ahead, impulsive buying behaviors are poised to worsen in the Philippines, fueled by deceptive marketing tactics and the prevalence of fast fashion.

Shady business practices like frequent monthly sales and deceptive pricing would become widespread, enticing Filipinos to make impulsive purchases. Additionally, targeted advertising would further encourage impulse buying behaviors. The rise of fast fashion would exacerbate these tendencies, leading to excessive consumerism and material waste.

In conclusion, addressing these issues will require a concerted effort to regulate marketing practices and promote more sustainable consumption habits among Filipinos.

Shopping, it's also[getting] worse. With how these sites have flourished, with how scams, these fake mark-ups have flourished, they've become actually the norm. [T]he 9 that I mentioned earlier [were optimistic and the best case scenario]. If these businesses, or society_, decides to not choose profit. But tendency is, people will choose profit. So if it sells, or if it helps in selling, these shopping [and] e-commerce sites will possibly prefer to keep these unethical practices alive.

I think we would be pushed to spend on 11/11, but it happens every other month: 10/10, 9/9, 8/8. So it'd imagine it would happen simiarly to the US, where we would acquire tons of waste in terms of material items. So many clothes, so much consumerism. Right now, in Carousell, when I buy items, some of the sellers specifically state that the reason for selling is [that] it was an impulsive buy, size doesn't fit, and so on. So I would imagine [that] a lot of waste will happen; I feel like [the world] would get way more polluted because people just keep buying impulsively, [encouraged by] algorithms.

Honestly, I'm worried that...fast fashion would take over my grandma buys from SHEIN already, so I don't know...we might just...become a generation who just relies on fast fashion for all their clothing, and I think that's what a lot of these fast fashion brands are working towards. But there are some like kind of pushback from that. But yeah, I just think we might just go into fast fashion until...we're super old and it won't be like a novel thing for us. Like for my grandma, it's like a novel thing...she's so excited when she gets from SHEIN...but she still prefers her non-fast fashion clothes...she [only] buys a little bit from SHEIN. But then [in the future]...our whole wardrobe would just be fast fashion, and we just rely on like fast fashion retailers for our clothes. And that's kind of scary...There's a whole vintage resurgence right now, but honestly, I don't think it's gonna last because it's just kind of pricey. Some vintage [clothes cost]...a lot, like I was shocked, [consider that] it's second hand clothes. It's like $200 for a jacket...like what? And a lot of the vintage stores here, like the ukay-ukays (secondhand stores)...I'm wondering how long they would last because they're already used. So it's still [concerns] the idea of consumption, because the clothes itself won't last long, [since] it goes through a lot of wearers. But if everything that's being bought is already fast fashion, and we're just buying secondhand fast fashion made from toxic materials...it doesn't solve the issue; it's not sustainable because it's full of chemicals...

Kung business as usual, kung yung mid-case scenario, tingin ko may mga despite regulations yung despite taxes, may mga tao na bibili pa rin ng, may mga taong mapapadala pa rin sa sales sa mga 11/11, mga 10/10 na sales ganyan.

Okay, so in terms of shopping, I think it will change. The way I see it, the way I see it right now, AI leaning towards profiling so being able to profile a user on the Internet would make it easier for them to, to target shopping platforms for them. So it's probably...[amazing] if utilized correctly but there's that element of financial responsibility that we're wary of.

I only thought of TikTok now but I also think na parang Tik Tok, short form videos, and shopping...since I know Tik Tok has shops too...it's presence will also be in the Philippines pa rin.
