Blockchain and Web3 for authentication

In an idealistic future, emerging technologies like blockchain and NFTs are revolutionizing the way transactions are conducted, ensuring unprecedented levels of integrity and transparency across the nation.

For instance, high-value art pieces and important government documents (e.g. visas) can be authenticated with NFTs, their provenance and ownership securely recorded for eternity. Meanwhile, in the realm of governance, blockchain is a powerful tool in the fight against voter fraud and corruption, with e-voting systems verifying identities and government expenses laid bare for all to see.

As these technologies continue to evolve, trust in our institutions grows stronger, paving the way for a brighter, more accountable future for all Filipinos.

The country has now transitioned from manual to digital voting. Smart contracts would serve as ballots, which could only be signed with a verified digital identity + biometric authentication. The ballot will then be securely recorded on the blockchain.

Thanks to distributed ledger technology, the Philippine government's transaction history can viewed publically online, enforcing transparency and accountability.

Every Filipino can access all the important documents they need (e.g. national ID, driver's license, passport, graduation diploma) through a digital wallet app. Each document is issued as an NFT on the blockchain, preventing identity fraud and loss.

So may NFT na kasama yan. Yun yung nakikita ko ng use ng NFT mga proof of authenticity sa mga works of art. Hindi lang works of art, pati yung mga titulo ng lupa, mga government documents, anything that needs proof of authenticity: merong gamit yung NFT diyan.

...[S]ince it's a money matter, hopefully in this idealistic world, [there's] no more stealing money, with all our government officials stealing the taxpayers money [nowadays].

I was...advising...this working group [that] was thinking about...how blockchain would be applied to things like elections...where the idea is that you could make every vote more transparent and provable...you wouldn't be able to fake it.

It would be really interesting to see [what the] Philippines [would be like if it had] actually implemented a social score with digital identity because as you know, right, [the] Philippines is...super Catholic or Christian. And I'm sure that might wager in my assumption in the future, that might impact someone's status of the church, especially if it's a priest or whatnot, or if it's...a wealthy person that goes to church, and they find out that they have like a really bad social score because they've like committed crimes...Or maybe the priest is like doing terrible things and now that impacts the community, because they find out that the priest is a bad person. So that would be really interesting to see. I think that's like a way where technology could actually impact not just [the] Church, but also politics as well. I mean, you can't just keep erasing people's history...just assuming that it doesn't exist, like you saw in the last election...Again, there's pros and cons, right? Like, yes, it'd be great to have, [to] make sure like the digital identity is recorded somewhere, and that history isn't erased, but it's also a bad thing...someone may get access to it, [someone] may hack into it and then unveil that this person is actually corrupt...And then all of a sudden, the culture and the community comes down on this person because that information is leaked. So I think then it becomes very tribal. There's a lot of tribalism that occurs, right, if that information gets out...[So] I think digital identity would impact [politics] for sure. Like I said before...if people have your identity and your history, they can use that politically against you. And [this will affect the most]...obviously people [with] political status, right? The community will make judgments based on your digital identity and your history...

...I'll just focus on one answer [for an optimistic future of finance,] and I think that would be visibility. So, visibility in the sense that there would be transparency in the flow of money to the extent that that helps the people. So for one financial, like financial usage of public institutions like government, for example. That's one thing. And then, but also visibility in the sense that visibility of low socioeconomic status areas geographically. I think there are a lot of projects that were that, that touch on that certain people, areas, demographics are in more need of attention, more like, more need of like financial aid rather than others. I think that would be important so visibility is a key factor in finance.
